The neck is one of the toughest areas of the body to treat
without surgery, and doctors and researchers have tried everything from lasers
and radiofrequency to peels and creams—to no avail. Last year I wrote this
article about a new treatment called Ultherapy, and we’ve treated more than
500 patients since! And even more impressive than the amazing results we’re
seeing, 90 percent of those treated are happy with the outcome!
What is Ultherapy?
This technology uses ultrasound waves to generate heat and
deliver it to an exact depth in the skin. It works by remodeling existing
collagen and prompting the body to produce more collagen—which in turn results
in tighter skin.
Is there downtime?
Patients can get back to their usual activities immediately
after treatment, but most report tenderness in the treated areas for about one
week after the procedure.
What are the results?
Ninety percent of the 500 patients we treated this past year
have been thrilled with their Ultherapy results—but it’s important to know that
the improvement is not visible immediately and does not happen in everyone. After
one month, skin is slightly less slack, but after three to six months the
results are obvious. Most patients are so pleased they come back for a second
treatment—and bring their friends! (After a year of performing this treatment,
we suggest two treatments for optimal results.)
What does the future hold?
With such promising results on the face and neck, we’ve just
begun to understand the full capabilities of this ultrasound technology. I’ll
be sure to share more about other potential applications as soon as I can, but
I can tell you that further studies are underway!
