Great-Tasting Antioxidant Treats

Sunscreen may be the best way to protect our skin and preserve its youth, but antioxidants run a very close second. Of course I recommend everyone incorporate an antioxidant serum into their daily skincare routine, but you can get far-reaching benefits for your entire body by eating a variety of free-radical-fighting foods each day. Brightly-colored fruits and vegetables are a great place to start, but you can also get your daily dose with these sweet treats, but just remember: moderation is key.

Xocai Omega Squares

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to mean giving up chocolate—but you do have to be mindful of the type you eat, as well as how much. Dark chocolate is naturally rich in antioxidants, but you need to look for low sugar levels as not to offset the benefits. I like Xocai Omega Squares because they’re portion-controlled and fortified with omega-3 fatty acids derived from flaxseed, plus a dash of free-radical-fighting acai. And they’re sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Blueberry Crunchies

Though you’d think dried fruit would be a healthy snack, most of them are so loaded up with sugar you might as well have a candy bar. Fortunately, the folks over at Crunchies have figured out a way to freeze-dry their fruit without losing the nutrients and without all the extra sugar. Blueberries are bursting with good-for-you antioxidants, and you can pop these organic berries in your mouth by the handful, or toss them into your yogurt without consuming unnecessary calories.

Ginny Bakes

I’ll never give up cookies, but these days I stick to smarter options like Ginny Bakes. My favorite is the Chocolate Chip Love, an organic, gluten-free cookie with chunks of dark chocolate, so I can indulge responsibly. Look for them at a Whole Foods, Fresh Market, and specialty stores near you, and don’t forget the organic milk!
