As the new editor-in-chief and chief content officer for Reader’s Digest—the most trusted magazine in the world—it’s my mission to help you get the information you need to live better. I feel a real emotional connection to the 26 million readers who come to our magazine, website, and digital editions for moving stories, world-famous humor, and health advice they can count on.
I’ve spent more than 20 years as a journalist studying health, nutrition, fitness, and weight loss. I’ve served as editor-in-chief of Prevention magazine and was executive editor of Fitness magazine. In addition to my latest book The Digest Diet, I’m the author of the five-time New York Times bestseller The Flat Belly Diet! (it sold more than 1 million copies!) and the 400 Calorie Fix.
I’m also a mom (to 7-year-old twin girls), a wife, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a runner, and a reader. Just like you, I’m passionate about each of my roles and put my heart into everything that I do. I believe that feeling happy and healthy is key to being the best I can be at each of those roles.
Yep, I’m far from perfect: My weight was fluctuated from as low as 135 (woohoo!) to as high as 173 (yikes!), and you’ll never see me turn down a slice of pizza. But what I’ve learned is most important is to be comfortable in your own skin and to not listen to well-intentioned but wrong-headed people on the subject of your weight, eating and exercise habits, and health.
And that’s where Reader’s Digest —and this blog— comes in: I cull through the diet hype, read the science and watch the trends, sift through the gimmicks and fads and present the science and breakthroughs that really work. And because we’re all time crunched and information overloaded, I share the scoop in quick, actionable ways that you can really use.
