SKINNY TREND #1: Restaurants Rethinking Kids' Meals

According to a study from the Center for Science in the Public Interest, fried chicken and burgers are the most common foods on kids menus. Fries are the most common side, and soda is the most common drink. No wonder 20 percent of our children are obese. But this year, under pressure from the First Lady, chains like Olive Garden and Red Lobster began slashing calories from their kids menus. What’s more, McDonald’s offset its Happy Meal fries with apple slices, and Arby’s began offering apples with yogurt dip. We still have a long way to go to curb childhood obesity, but every bit of progress helps.
