Hi, I’m Rosanna Gibbons. I’ve been a registered dietitian for over thirty years. It’s my pleasure to be your nutrition information specialist at this ‘Nutrition Know-How’ Blog!
Over the course of my nutrition career I’ve been a home care dietitian, a nutrition editor, a diabetes educator, a sports nutritionist, a university professor, a private practitioner, a nutrition entrepreneur, and a product development specialist. I’ve authored journal articles, contributed to professional position papers, reviewed and edited reference books, lectured at national and international conferences, authored continuing education curriculums, and provided testimony to Institute of Medicine, Medicare, and the Joint Commission tasks forces. Throughout all, my goal has always been to provide convenient practical nutrition solutions, with the focus on improving wellness and avoiding sickness and disease.
My interest in nutrition dates back to my days as a student at Queens College City University of New York (CUNY) where I split my time between the dance studio and laboratory, dovetailing a concentration in nutrition and theatre dance. After a Dietetic internship at Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, and a Full Graduate Assistantship for a Master of Science in Medical Biology at Long Island University, I became a clinical dietitian in cardiology and home care at the Northport Veterans Administration Medical Center. Today I manage a busy nutrition practice at Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, with a focus on cardiology, sports medicine, and weight management.
I look forward to providing many practical tips for staying healthy and eating well. In the meantime, have a ‘nutritious day!’
