Hi, I’m Emily Loghmani and this is my diabetes blog. As a dietitian and diabetes educator at Johns Hopkins Diabetes Center, my goal is to translate medical information into daily guidelines that will promote good diabetes control and optimal health.
I have specialized in diabetes for 25 years, starting at a children’s hospital where most of my patients were infants, children and teenagers with type 1 diabetes. Seven years ago I switched to adults clinics where most of the people have type 2 diabetes. Although diabetes treatment varies with age and the type of diabetes, everyone benefits from education and support! I appreciate the influence of culture, work schedules, finances and social and emotional situations on one’s attention to diabetes care and try to identify suggestions that are practical and easy to follow.
My two children are now in their late 20s and I am a new grandmother! When I’m not working, I enjoy time with family, reading mysteries, and trying a variety of fitness activities: biking, walking, dancing, hoola-hooping and juggling, to name a few!
With this blog I look forward to sharing news, information and ideas about living with diabetes.
