Lisa
Collier Cool is a bestselling author and winner of 19 journalism awards,
including a National Magazine Award for Personal Service. She was first
published at age 9 in Ladies Home Journal (a letter to the editor) and as a
professional writer has more than one million words in print including articles
for American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Pause Magazine,
Essence, Family Circle, Fitness, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, Harper’s Bazaar,
Health Monitor, Ladies Home Journal, Oprah Magazine, Parade, Prevention,
Reader’s Digest, SELF, and the Wall Street Journal. A past president of
American Society of Journalists and Authors, Lisa has written six books,
including Beat the Heart Attack Gene with coauthors Dr. Bradley Bale and Amy
Doneen, ARNP, about their evidence-based method of preventing heart disease,
strokes and type 2 diabetes (

retired NYPD sergeant Ralph Sarchie) of the bestseller Beware the Night: A NYC
Cop Investigates the Supernatural (St. Martin’s Press, movie rights sold to
Jerry Bruckheimer at Disney Pictures) and attended an exorcism as part of her
research. Her other books include How to Write Irresistible Query Letters and
Bad Boys: Why We Love Them, How to Live With Them, When to Leave Them (with
Beverly Hills psychiatrist Carole Lieberman, MD). Lisa loves snorkeling,
tennis, gardening and swimming with dolphins. A native New Yorker, she is
