I was surprised with no real answer...My Doctor had one for me. The Pancreas stores sugar then releases it when it (The Pancreas) thinks I have starving....so when I have eaten dinner at, say 6pm. Eat nothing until morning... 7am...(13hrs) use my meter & the numbers are higher...then after I eat the numbers are lower. It is during the sleep hours that Sugar is released.

I have asked these same questions of 3 doctors in the past 7 years. None of them has answered. I don't think they know. Why do I have to depend on the internet where information is questionable, to get answers to specific questions. Doctors never miss cashing my checks or submitting claims for payment. With what I have learned about myself I think I could select my own medications with the help of a chart and my pharmacist. Doctors have become a source of disappointment.

I find if I eat 3 pints of Oreo cookie dough icecream in the morning, i'm not hunger till 11:00. I than take my insulin shot and eat 4- 1/4lb burgers and a shake for my pre-lunch snack. After a massive dump I warm up for dinner with a shopping bag of fries. Really the reason i'm only 457lb. is because I work out by running back and forth to the refrigerator. My advice to those with Diabetes like mine is to just eat and die happy.

Hmm. So, what this article is basically saying: If you are experiencing high morning sugars talk to your doctor to find out why. Pretty much a worthless article here.
